Tiered social distancing policies and epidemic control

چکیده

Tiered social distancing policies have been adopted by many governments to mitigate the harmful consequences of COVID-19. Such a number well-established features, i.e. they are short-term, adaptive (to changing epidemiological conditions), and based on multiplicity indicators prevailing epidemic activity. Here, we use ideas from Behavioural Epidemiology represent tiered in an SEIRS model using composite information index including multiple current past activity mimicking those used during COVID-19 pandemic, such as transmission intensity, infection incidence hospitals’ occupancy. In its turn, dynamics is assumed endogenously inform governmental interventions. The resulting described hereditary system showing noteworthy property, dependency endemic levels variables initial conditions. This consequence need normalize different pool them into single index. Simulations suggest rich spectrum possible results. These include policy suggestions identify pitfalls undesired outcomes, worsening control, that can arise following types approaches responses.

Intermittent social distancing strategy for epidemic control

We study the critical effect of an intermittent social distancing strategy on the propagation of epidemics in adaptive complex networks. We characterize the effect of our strategy in the framework of the susceptible-infected-recovered model. In our model, based on local information, a susceptible individual interrupts the contact with an infected individual with a probability σ and restores it ...

Game Theory of Social Distancing in Response to an Epidemic

Social distancing practices are changes in behavior that prevent disease transmission by reducing contact rates between susceptible individuals and infected individuals who may transmit the disease. Social distancing practices can reduce the severity of an epidemic, but the benefits of social distancing depend on the extent to which it is used by individuals. Individuals are sometimes reluctant...

Faster diagnosis prevents apathy in social-distancing epidemic games

Within the epidemic game literature, there is an inconsistency over whether increases in infection risk can discourage prevention practices. In one theory, investments in social distancing and prophylaxis increase monotonely with infection pressure, while in another, there is a turning-point beyond which investments drop off. To-date, the reasons for this difference have been unclear. This arti...

Protection motivation theory and social distancing behaviour in response to a simulated infectious disease epidemic.

Epidemics of respiratory infectious disease remain one of the most serious health risks facing the population. Non-pharmaceutical interventions (e.g. hand-washing or wearing face masks) can have a significant impact on the course of an infectious disease epidemic. The current study investigated whether protection motivation theory (PMT) is a useful framework for understanding social distancing ...
